Happy day-after Earth Day Rotarians!
As mentioned last week, in celebration of Earth Day our Club is once again planting a tree for each Rotarian in our Club. This year we are planting 60 trees in Appalachia. I would like to thank Lisa Jordan for continuing to champion this wonderful initiative!
This past week we had a club assembly and Membership Chair Ham Malek spoke about tapping back into our passion for Rotary, living the 4 Way Test in our daily lives and how to utilize both of those to grow our Club.
An additional reminder, the board is beginning to build our Community Budget for next year. We are asking for Rotarians to help us to identify both old and new projects and organizations that we can do projects for. We are looking for someone to champion the project, organize service projects for it and speak about it at meetings to drum up excitement. To date we have had no support for old or new projects. Please reach out to any board member to express your interest in projects to be considered.
On a personal note, I had several Club members inquire about gathering and sending care packages to my son and his fellow soldiers on deployment. First, my family and I cannot thank you all enough for your care and support. I did speak to my son and he is so grateful and said he cannot wait to get home and visit to thank you all personally. The items he said they can use are:
- Always letters from home.
- Toiletries
- Soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shaving cream, disposable razors, ChapStick, lotion, deodorant
- Non perishable snacks or food like oatmeal
- Keurig KCups or ground coffee
Finally, I would like to ask you all to join me in wishing the Long’s a speedy return to Rotary. They have had a rough past few months and would welcome a call, text or email. I know they are missing their Rotary family as much as we are missing Gerry & Jill.
I look forward to seeing you all this week at 12 at Moravian Village. Barbara Schroeder will be giving her classification talk and Ham has a Membership Moment for us!
